Nursing homes have a 1 to 5 star rating system that is supposed to tell us what type of quality our loved ones will receive.
A recent investigation has shown disturbing truths about how nursing homes obscure this rating system by “...sleightof-hand maneuvers to improve their ratings and hide shortcomings…” [Northwest Arkansas Democratic Gazette, March 14, 2021]
This investigation has shown that, regardless of rating, nursing homes have suffered staggering COVID-19 illnesses and deaths across the board. It has also shown that our loved ones in nursing homes have suffered ongoing harmful and horrible practices, such as physical and sexual abuse, at nursing homes across the country.
Holding these wrongdoers accountable for abusing our most vulnerable citizens accountable is the sort of situation that our 7th Amendment was made for. We need to defend our rights. Stand up for our 7th Amendment, protect our seniors.
